While my wife was selling her work at an arts & crafts festival, I decided to check out a couple of estate sales. Found this old Philco for a good price and figured it would make a good restoration project for eventual resell.
It's a Philco 46-1203 radio & phonograph from 1946. The first Philco to have an automatic turntable. Plays 78's, I believe. Radio is AM only. Looks like I'll need to find a replacement dial.
I powered it up on my variac last night. Surprisingly, the dial light still works! Unfortunately, I couldn't get any sound from the radio. Could be the unit itself or the speaker. Have to take the chassis out and see if the tubes light up. The phonograph platter did spin, though! Seems to be running a bit slow, but hopefully all it needs is a good cleaning and probably a new needle.
Wish you and your 2017 is fill with, Peace, Love, Prosperity and love.
All the best.
Regards
Alan
