This was an anniversary gift for my parents purchased in 1973 from a small antique store in Cleveland NY. We were told that it was off a tall ship based on the St. Lawrence River in 1877. I have been looking for information on the lamp for several years now. I did find some company info on manufacture of the lamp, but nothing on the lamp specifically. Based on my limited research, it appears to me that it’s off a locomotive or street car.
We have used the lantern while bullhead fishing on Oneida Lake (upstate NY). It works very well! The glass lens was gone when it was purchased and a piece of plexi-glass was made to fit. When we got it, it had a bare metal finish (see photo of back side). My father used a product called “Rub-n-buff) on it to give it a bronze finish. My father has since passed on and I would like to let my mom know more about it. Have you seen such a thing?
