Parian doll is "made of fine white bisque (unglazed porcelain) without tinting." . She is unlike a Bisque doll or China doll. She has original body and her original dress which I took off to photo her , The sculpting on Parain dolls can be very detailed and one of my favorite types of antique dolls , this is just a example of one I thought I would share since it has been awhile since I posted :-) She is 16 inchs tall .
very very pretty she is and nice to see her pretty face !!
Beautiful doll, and I'm so glad you're posting again, Manikin, I look forward to see more of your collections. :)
Now this doll is a real beauty! She is just sooo pretty and you know how I feel about dolls but I really think I could own one of these. And the dress still looks so very good too. I'm impressed by her!
Lovely to see a post from you Mani, and your girl is beautiful.
She must have been kept as special, I can't believe how great a condition she is in.
Manikin, superb doll and pictures!
That cute face is striking to look at, artistic and lively.

Great post Sis, amazing that something so fragile could survive children & time!

Thanks you Katherine I thought I should post once in awhile :-)
racer4four, It is amazing how these were made and remain beautiful unlike the cheap toys made today :-)
kyratango, They really were works of art I believe the sculpting and fine quality put into them . Wish they could talk and tell me their story :-)

What a lovely face!
What does that mean 'without tinting'? Tinting in the porcelain itself? How are her cheeks tinted?
Not sure what you mean no tinting Celine ? Of coarse she has been hand painted but bisque is white before painted and area's not painted are white .
She's a beauty. Fantastic kid arms with articulated fingers. A bit ABG-esque. Is she marked? An angelic and peaceful child doll.
Thank you chinahead . No she has no markings . I agree she remind me a bit of the ABG China dolls but she remains a mystery as to who made her . I also always wanted original bodies and clothes in fact I collected French Fashions for years and would not buy unless original clothes or replaced during period as many of the dress's in silk did not hold up well at all . Glad you stopped :-)
Beautiful face on this doll, with a very elaborate and pretty hairstyle.
Reminds me of the dolls my grandmother used to collect.
My grandmother was an RN too.
She collected antique dolls, had half a wall full of them.
She was the charge nurse of Monterey Peninsula Hospital, 7th floor.
They called her Johnnie.
She loved her work. Worked until she was 73 years old.
Thank you AmatoorPikr and I loved your story about your Grandmother :-) Many thanks for stopping and sharing with me . I can't imagine working till I am 73 but have a long way to go before that :-)
Thank you I appreciate you stopping and bringing her back up . Many thanks !

Many Thanks for stopping and bringing this girl back up today Licorice1977 :-)
Hello Maniquin¡! For those who don't know why they are called "Parian", it comes from the name of a very pure white marble that was extracted from the quarries of the Greek island of Paros. A type of porcelain was developed imitating that whiteness, calling it "Parian ware"
