Found this small galalith and chrome brooch abouth a month ago, but I haven t had time to look at it again! It needs some love and attention, because its point misses a tip, nothing that cant be fixed. When I bought it I thought it might be bakelite but it turned out galalith. These two materials look and feel very similar!
Its from the twenties, from here in Belgium or it might be French, thats a bit the same because we are such a small country ;-)
I included a pic of some of my earlier posts here on CW, some of them are glass or celluloid, but they are from the same era and they have the same spirit, dont you think?
Hope you like them!
On the last pic you find the reason why I dont have any time lately. Blue eyes wants to stand all the time lately! ;-)
All of these are gorgeous! Love the group! And is Mr Blue Eyes testing (tasting?) your galalith pieces ? ;-))
Kyra, thanks for your love!
He would taste my jewels if he got half a chance! For now I let him have my keys (yuck!!!) as a compromise but he really likes them and he gets really upset if Intrybto take them from him. :-)
3rd picture - WOW !You can almost smell the scent of Art Deco era.
I m just thinking...it could be a jakob bengel piece, it has the same style as some of his work, dont you think?
What a nice little blue eyed son and grown up fast@ Enjoy it ! They are grown up before you know. What a nice Art Deco collection!
Thanks Agram, Im enjoying every minute of it ;-)
Will be posting some jewels here when I can...my jewelry collection is getting too big, so I might get rid of some less nice stuff and focus on keeping the really nice jewels
If you ask me Newtimes, I'm not an expert at all but as a dillettante I'd say the red /white brooch looks Bengel and a title brooch might be also Czechoslovakian as dr Google says http://www.guyotbrothers.com/jewelry-history/jewelry-hall-of-fame/bengel/1933-art-deco-bangle-bracelet.htm
Ivonne, thanks for your opinion, I really appreciate it! The bow brooch is a wannabe Bengel if you ask me. The red galalith and chrome one I posted here has some similarities with Bengel pieces, but you could be right also. ;-)
