My "Covered wagon Doll " is a massive 32 in tall a very heavy doll and head all original body . Dates from around 1860's
2nd doll is a more common Flat top doll again all original body and stands 27" Tall .Dates 1860-1870s. Both are German Made .
China and Parian dolls are similar in many aspects. Both are made of porcelain with the Parians having a flat finish and china dolls with a shinny glossy finish. Most china dolls were made from 1840 to 1930’s with painted eyes, usually blue, but a few had brown painted or stationary glass eyes. They all had shoulder plate heads that were mounted on fabric bodies. Most had formed hair in styles that reflected the time period
Amazing these dolls survived as heads could easily break .
Just a post for showing some difference's in China doll vs Parian .
I log all my dolls when I buy them for reference and do a photo shoot :-)
China dolls were made very elaborate with flowers molded in hair to the very most common one called a Low Brow which was made up to 1920's and some into 30's
I love these Mani! Also, thanks for the additional information, it adds so much to the appreciation of your dolls!

I have to ask...what is a flat top doll??
She is one in white and her hair is flat on top and puffed on sides Bro .

It was one of those night Roy when you inhaled to much dust from the speed of wagon and when you rode the horses to hard they came t a quick stop throwing you out of drivers seat . I believe falling on your head caused your amnesia lol
lmao....Now I can remember fly out of my fathers brothers truck when he borrow my fathers car to go on his honeymoon..but he fail to tell my father the passenger door fly's open when you take a Conner hard ...lol out the door I went nailed a curb 12 stiches later I got an Ice-cream out of that...oh ya those trails were really dusty
lol..you hot ticket you
I imagine when you see one in poor condition you may want to fix it. Is it better to leave some with the scuff marks of time ?
You have the best dolls! And they are in perfect condition, it's awesome to see them and with their original clothes too! Have you been able to fix that one doll that was mailed to you all broken up? I imagine that takes so much time if you have to repair them and probably quite frustrating. You must have to tell yourself not to be angry at the seller, it takes way too much energy to be angry and creates creases in the forehead! Ya just have to smile and be thankful that you're not clueless like they are.
Dolls bkind of freak me out do you believe in haunted dolls . Seen one in a museum in Quesnel British Columbia.
Share sorry I missed your comment and yes I fixed the one that came mailed :-) I can't believe how some people pack even when I tell them how to pack it . To small a box will always snap off heads . Glad you enjoy seeing some of my collection I am always happy to see you :-)
The doll was called mandy and was on a few tv programs about haunted objects.
Flat on top and puffed on the sides!! Glad you explained that. Brought back memories of an old girlfriend.

Hard to imagine how they survived . Thanks for stopping PPC Lois :-)
