I bought this book along with the other book, but cannot find squat on the web about it. The book is in fabulous condition - no clue how old it is. No copyright date inside. A search of the publishers turned up nothing, as did a title search. If any of our UK folks can shed some light on this book, I would be very grateful.

Well this is a shot in the dark but perhaps the British Library can help with ID? I know in the US, the Library of Congress is supposed to own a copy of every book published in English, so too the British Library. It stands to reason they have your book on file. Not sure if they would be willing to help, but after all you can only ask.

Kath - hmmm....I flipped through the book and did not find a Library of Congress registration number, but not sure that means anything. This book also does not have a copyright/publication date in it. Trying to figure it out via the price listed on the book leads to this-----> LOL!

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shilling
"The half-crown, two shillings and sixpence (2/6) or one-eighth of a pound, which was abolished at decimalisation (otherwise it would have had the value of 12½p). At decimalisation in 1971, the shilling coin was superseded by the new five-pence piece, which initially was of identical size and weight and had the same value, and inherited the shilling's slang name of a bob."

May I suggest you try googling 'Burns Oates and Washbourne'. The company went through a number of name changes. It sold educational supplies, not just books, but with a speciality in books for Catholic Schools.

This books appears to have been published in 1925, but because my book is a "Specimen" it might pre-date that publishing year. I sent an email to:

      http://www.johnjarroldprintingmuseum.org.uk/home.html

Hopefully, they will answer promptly. :-)
