Hi I found this in my yard while gardening. I live in Florida on 3 acres. It looks like it might be some kind of arrow head. It has a chiseled look on both sides. I'm not sure of the material. It is very hard . It measures 4 5/8" long and 1 7/8" wide. I've looked up arrow heads in Florida but I'm not even sure if it's from here. I really got excited when I found it and would love some information on it. I hope someone might be able to tell me something about it. Thank You for your time and knowledge.
Cool! I hope you remember the spot where you found it! But 3 acres is plenty to garden. lol...In a couple years you're going to have the best kept land cuz you're probably gonna go dig it all up! ;)
Hi and thanks for all the information. It's really neat having something that old and knowing it was used as a knife. I assume this is called a point. It was really confusing looking up arrowheads on internet. There were so many different ones. Only a few looked like this one . The bottom on it seems to have been shaped in somewhat of a half circular shape. I wonder if this was used in cleaning of fish ect... This was found right next to the house where I had planted some flowers. I wander do you normally find more where you find one? If so I might need a back hoe. Just kidding. Thanks again!!!
I'd recommend that you show it to an archaeologist in the anthropology department of your closest college or university. They're most likely to have information about the prehistoric cultures that inhabited your area, and be familiar with local materials used by the Native American for tool making.
Looks like an ancient Axe head. If i were you i'd be buying a metal detector pronto, unless you think it is treasure trove.
