This vase is quite unlike anything I have seen before from Kurata and I sure am glad it had a sticker.
The sticker dates this vase to around the 70s, maybe early 80s.

I have lots to learn about glass making but I believe horizontal stripes like this are a bit difficult, particularly to have such uniformity as this.

A nice simple shape and like all Kurata, very well made and finished.
The palette is very Japanese to me!

Sooo Beautiful Karen. This must be a very difficult decor to achieve as it appears the vase is blown out of one piece of glass while at the same time keeping each color in place. In Murano glass, they have a technique called Incalmo - where each color is layered in separate sections. As each layer is individually blown and attached, the lines are more defined, but I feel this Japanese method is a more difficult achievement indicative of a highly skilled glass master.

Thanks Ivonne for the love and comment.

      LOL Sean! Thanks

      Thanks too Caperkid!

Rick I have a couple of incalmo pieces (Italian made) and get that it's a difficult technique too, but you rarely see glass stripes blown like this. I agree it's a skilled blower; the stripes are so uniform! Thanks for the appreciation.
