My apologies on this photo, I have had my friend send it as I don't have a good example to show you of a 'fat lava" vase. I will try to replace this as soon as I can correct the many issues I'm having at the moment. I wanted to clarify what the 'fat lava' is and what it is not, for those that would like to know. Also, I do not claim to be an 'expert' here but for CW and others that come here, I believe this info should be correct when we add items and descriptions.
Here is an example of a mid-century 'fat lava' vase. I chose this because in the center is why it is described as 'fat lava'. It's texture really does look and feel like real lava. (It's just not sharp like lava is).
~ Maker: Jasba, West Germany.
~ Year: Mid-century.
~ Approx. Size: 6" tall x 3" at widest point.
Please let me know if I have clarified this correctly so that it's easily understood. I just wanted the 'non-collectors' to understand that not all WGP is called 'Fat Lava'.
Thanks ;)
Beautiful Share! I love the West German take on lava pieces! As opposed to the Lotton vases for example, these actually look like lava with their rough, black pockmarked surfaces.
Nice one!!!!
Thanks Rick. Yes they do look and feel like lava, except like I said they aren't sharp. I've been to Hawaii and Guam and Lava will cut you quick! But yeah, the vases are great, aren't they!
Thanks Sean. Actually, this one is not mine but a friends. I have one that has some white lava on it but I thought this would be a better example.
Thanks for the loves guys:

Thanks for the post -- Yes FAT LAVA has that "Bubbly LAVA Rough" look to it
Well done Sue.
Thanks for the love and comment Rose. Do you have any fat lava vases? They are very collectible and hold value well!
Thanks so much Karen. I really do appreciate that. I know sometimes what I'm thinking and what I'm typing just don't hit that same cord! So appreciated!
