Antique Large White Chinese Figure/Statue Wise Man Signed

I bought this large figure about 25 years ago,body is a white color,face,hands,bottom is matted white,has a staff but top is broken an old break I still have the end,the bottom is embrossed in a circle,I really would love to have some information,how old,who mught be the maker and what is the writing.
