Wonderful brooch! What does the writing say at the upper part?
Quite a nice contemporary brooch. :)
Hello, Elisabethan. Sorry..I should have mentioned the gold-leaf writing. What looks like a coat of arms with letters KOFC (I think). Also looks like it has a place to wear it as a necklace. Thanks for your help!
Knights of Columbus, a Catholic Men's organization and one of the biggest Fraternal Organization in the world started in 1892 in New Haven, Conn. It was probably given to a Member's wife...certainly not a "Man Thing". When I first saw it I thought of a Chatelaine but this one is recent. RER
Loumanal beat me to the answer :). I only had to Google the KOFC to find the answer.
Good evening, Katherinecollections. Thanks for taking the time to look at the brooch and for all your help today!! Have a wonderful evening!
Didn't have to Google, I've been a Member since 1970. and a PGK. BOB
Aloha, Loumanal. You are fast..I have been looking for info on this brooch for weeks....thanks for your expertise! Have a great weekend!
Hey, Elisabethan. Thanks for initiating the find!! If it was for you asking for the writing..I would have not known about its origin. Thanks again for you help!! Have a great weekend!
Loumanal, glad you are a member of the Knight of Columbus!! Mystery solved!! Thank you very much!!
Elisabethan & Loumanal, thanks for solving the mystery. One last request, I googled KOFC Eygptian brooch..no results. Any suggestions? Thanks!!
Other than for someone (dealer) affixing the K of C logo on this possible Convention/Meeting? Souvenir, it does not have any particular meaning to the K of C organization. BOB
Good evening, Loumanal. Thanks for you insight..I'm sure I will find information about the brooch. You gave me a head start..thanks again!!
I think it looks more like a half of a buckle converted in to a brooch.
Good morning, Davyd286. Thank you for your expertise! I will search KOFC buckles...I have searched KOFC Eygptian brooches...so far none exist..lol have a wonderful week!
