This is a beautiful painted mallard duck. I was wondering if anyone could advise about the origin of this duck. It belonged to my father-in-law, who was originally from Wisconsin. I'm not sure if it would be considered an antique or not.

He's lovely. "Antiques", if you are a purist must be 100 yrs. or older. On another site it belong to I keep coming across items described as Vintage Antique - and that makes me crazy (doesn't take much though!). Did your father-in-law make decoys? This Mallard looks younger than the ones in the previous post.

No. He just collected a few, but we aren't sure whether they are rare or not.

I love decoy duck. I was watching a documentary about these ducks the time people put into making them, it was is amazing, they are a work of art. I couldn't get over how must the antique and rare duck go for. I love your ducks.
