Just picked this clock up at an antique store in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia yesterday. The store owner things the clock is from the 1930s. Any ideas from anyone else? It has Germany written on the front dial and Germany is also etched on the back panel. It works well, keeps good time. The cuckoos strike on the hour but they aren't registering the correct hour; could be that the clock needs to run a 24-hour cycle. The weights are quite large so this is probably an 8-day clock. If anyone might have some info, I'd appreciate it (sorry about the sideways pic).

I used to have my grandmothers like this, I loved it. I ended up taking it down to bring it to a clock repairman and in the interim, someone put it in a suitcase and put it outside! Yea, I no longer have it. I did love it though.
Anyway, I believe that around the 30's is right, if I remember correctly. The weights are the correct size for this clock and appear to be original

It does sound like you should probably take to a repair person that works on these types of clocks. Usually, when one does, you will see nothing but Coocoos in their shop. I also think there is a little door on the back with numbers and such inside.
My grandmother used to have to "wind" the clock everyday, I think early morning she did that but not real positive. The birds did pop out right on time but it was lagging in time by the time I got it so I just can't tell you more than that. I would suggest you do find a repair person and you can find out everything you need to know from them and they can fix it so your bird pops out correctly. These are very touchy and I wouldn't do anything that may seem harmless but could ruin your new find. It's a great clock. Welcome to CW by the way!
thanks a lot for the feedback! I found a cuckoo repair specialist in my area and i'll be taking it in soon. so far, after 3 days, it's keeping great time and is still ticking. still though, the bird's cuckoo doesn't signal the correct hour; it's 3 off. so at noon, it cuckoos three times. 6:00 registers as 9:00, etc. also, do these types of clocks also have chimes? it sounds like there are chimes in additions to the cuckoo. thanks again!
We had one new rather similar, a bit better carved. We had it since the early 50's and it struck on the hour and on the half hour only one cuckoo. Sold it 2 months ago for 40 dollars.
