I tend to think of these small hexagonal vases as being from the Art Deco period. Often their angular shape and décor support this. However this décor also appears on pieces from the Victorian period, as you see above.
On very small spatter pieces you can sometimes get only a part of the spatter which can be misleading.
Image one shows a general impression.
Image two shows the darker aspect of this décor.
Image three shows the lighter colours in this décor. Only on seeing this did I realise that the three ball footed vase is in the same décor! It's been only a couple of feet away from the darker versions of the same décor for months now!
Image four shows them all. There's an interloper as I like an odd number for a display.
Height 11cm./4.25 inches
I have had a suspicion that many of the pieces that are represented as Victorian are actually later production designed to appeal to an earlier fashion. I have seen a couple of the pieces of twisted body vases and such with post WWI marks, but they are uncommon as it appears little was directly exported to the US.
The appearance of this decor on a shape that is more commonly seen in more modern colors and decors with marks from post WWI would seemingly at least partially support my suspicion.
The assortment you show here is fabulous.... Quite the variety of decors on some pretty unique little pieces. Your latest find is a surprising example.
I love it!!
Thank you Craig, for your knowledge and your enthusiasm :-)
It is a lovely spatter - gorgeous combo of colours.
Great addition to your collection. The hexagonal shape is one of my welz favorites.
The group photo of hexagonal vases is spectacular!

Hi Peggy. I can only echo others here. What lovely colours. Great addition to a fabulous collection. I still LOVE the green and red ones either side at the back best. I've just noticed their shape is different, they lack a 'ring' around the base of the neck. Theyre all little beauties.
Many thanks, Fran :-) And many more shapes to hope to find too!
Thanks for the love, Vintagefran and Michelle.
