I purchased a glass shop a few years ago in Paris, Tennessee. The building used to be a Ford Motor Company dealership dating back to the 1940's we think. Found this sign in a "hidden" compartment. It's a double sided porcelin neon sign. It was made in Memphis Tennessee by Balton & Son Sign Company. Would appreciate any information on the sign. Also, will it decrease the worth if you have the neon replaced?

Value increases with working glass. There are some (like myself) that specialize in faithfully restoring vintage signs with obsolete vintage NOS glass tubing. Best way to go if one can afford doing so.

Cool that you found this sign in the building you bought. An added bonus for sure. The glass in front of the Merc sign looks to be from a Comet window hanger so it appears you have the remnants of 2 signs. Both are worth restoring and you would do the old dealership justice to preserve and display these signs.
