This is a sweet brooch by Coro. Gold tone metall, 5 aurora borealis rhinestones and white enamel on the petals.

I need help with when this was made and if possible the name or patentnumber of the modell. I haven´t been able to find another one like this online. Is this a rare modell? You can move the pin so you can wear it the way you like as the sides aren´t exactly the same lenght. It´s signed Coro in two places so when you move the pin you can always see the makersmark. The AB stones tells me it´s not from before 1955 but I would like to know if it´s 50,s or later?

I noticed after I posted there is some fiber in the photo, sorry about that.
    Thankyou!

Try here Elisabethan, unless you've already seen it. I use this site all the time. Lots of good info :)

Thankyou mikelv, I know the page but thankyou anyway. I can't read out which mark it is, it looks like one from the 1940's but the AB in the brooch makes that not possible?

I'm not sure why the AB stone affects the date but Coro started putting the Pegasus after 1940 and there were only a few years that didn't slant the word Coro. I would think the piece is gonna be closer to 1940 but that's just my opinion. Coro is one of my favorites. I'm curious to learn about the stone. Please share why it can't be. Thanks

Miksss the Aurora Borealis effect in rhinestones was invented in the 1950's. If you read overwiew articels here on CW about rhinestones or austra costume jewellry you will see that information. They even say that the precens of AB stones instantly places a piece of jewellry as post 1955. I agree this is somewhat confusing in this piece because when I read about coromarks I also find that this should be from the 1940's? The style also looks more 1940's to me. I'm confused. There is also the possibility that the stones have later been replaced but they look original. This is why I wish I could find the brooch amongst coros patents or some other information in old adds etc. I haven't been able to find it amongst their patented pieces. I'm interested in ideas about this. Thanks for your attention miksss

Someone who knows more about Coro would probably be able to solve this puzzle. The design of the brooch, and the hallmark looks remarkably like the one used in earlier Coro, but the safety clasp and AB crystals in bezel settings speak to it being post 50s - 60s. It's a really lovely brooch, Elisabethan. :)

Thankyou Katherinescollection and AuntMolly. This brooch is a bit confuing, early in style, two different types of Coro marks (different dates?) and the AB stones that shows they are from the 50's or laster.

I agree it's a bit strange nutsabotas. The heavyer text on the Base of the fastner is a 1940's mark i belive. Ofcourse you could put an older fastner from a newer brooch if you want to alter it if it broke or something.?
