Any ideas? It is mounted on a six foot pole. Chain can be moved to any of the three holes and secured with pin. It is metal with a wooden pole. Just curious what it was intended for. After reading the first five responses I know what I'd like to use it for.
It's definitely not a sense of humor locator!
Calm down FMG. You will get a little ribbing on here now and then. You need to accept it as humor and not an insult. The post isn't great but it is what we have, so I will make a guess and you research it.
I would venture to say if was a fore runner to the chutemaster. Most of them are all electronic and even computer operated today. Basically you could stand on the ground and open a chute trap door that was located over the back of a truck or wagon. The wooden handle hung down where you could reach it and pull outward to open the trap. They worked similar to a fulcrum and lever and gave you mechanical advantage. I haven't seen one in years and the ones I remember were on grain and fertilizer silo chutes out in the mid west.
Lol. Thanks I will look into that.
