Victorian chest, year actually unknown. Bought at auction several years ago and have used it daily sincde then. Very heavy. Appears to have been reworked by some owner in the past as the key area has been covered with new hardware and the curly-cues appear to have been reworked. Still a great piece and we love it. Not sure what wood it is, though.

It's a great chest, probably American made, can't tell base wood but I think it is pine with a Walnut veneer of a very good grade. The brass has been changed but as long as they didn't drill new holes they didn't hurt the value, correct brass can be had but it may not be worth the time and effort to find it. I don't think any of the wood has been reworked but it's hard from pictures to tell. I say enjoy !
