    Bluboi
    (103 items)

Another purchase from my trip to England. This splendid Arts & Crafts silver necklace set with moonstones is attributed to Frances Thalia How and Jean Milne, though there are no marks. English. Circa 1900. Central panel length 8 cm. Width 5.3 cm. Around necklace 43 cm. In its original fitted case, (unfortunately, with no labeling).

Frances Thalia How exhibited 1896-1928 & Jean Milne exhibited 1904-1917. Their address was 72, Pembroke Walk Studios, London.

Lit.: The Directory of Gold & Silversmiths, Jewellers & Allied Traders, 1838-1914, John Culme, London 1987, p. 240, ref 7541.

Thank you all! Jean, if you can find anything on the ladies, please let me know. I haven't found much. Maybe our other experts have more to add!

Fabulous item, what a shopping trip you've been on!

Very little info out there on How & Milne, however I did come across something interesting. Their signature piece sold at Christies in 1994 for US$2,711 - see: http://www.christies.com/LotFinder/lot_details.aspx?intObjectID=3112079

Wish I'd been at that auction with some cash in my pocket, the same piece is now for sale at Tadema Gallery for US$30,000!

I saw that necklace when I visited them. Magnificent! My favorite though was the Henry Wilson Apollo necklace, though their inventory was amazing!

I've found the trick to see the actual prices (rather than those annoying colour codes). They list their premium items on First Dibs and if you're a member you can see the actual prices.

So I can see the actual price on the Henry Wilson Apollo. Considering Wilson's stature, and the piece's importance and provenance it doesn't seem unreasonable.
