I recently acquired this beautiful antique and have had trouble finding out information on it. If anyone can help, that would be greatly appreciated thanks.
The only thing I've been able to locate on the piano itself is the name and the following ..
    Piano-forte-fabrik
    Hamburg
    Vermie thung aller Sorten Pianos

Hello! I have a piano which is of the same brand and probably the same age too! I'm also searching about this brand. I know it was established in 1846 in Hamburg and closed around 1900. H. W. Brandes exported to a LOT of countries and won a prize in 1886. I've found few others on web. I can send you the pics if you want. Could you tell me the serial number on yours? Mine is "1477" the number is located on top left of the pinblock. Could you send me pictures of him disassembled too?

      PS: Beautiful instrument! Congratulations!

Interesting... just discovering about H.W. Brandes Pianos... not much about them uh? I stumbled upon the name when opening my 1901 upright Steinway & Sons... the name "H. Brandes" is written on the soft pedal rod... did the two brands collaborate? But you said they closed around 1900... mystery...
