I bought this for my girlfriend. She has always wanted one and I found this one locally. She really wants to use it but I can't find any info on it other than its a 1904 model. I just don't want the value to get hurt by her using it. The serial number is B492425 if anyone can help me.
Looks like it needs a new belt so she can use it. If it is usable the value goes up and I doubt she will hurt it by using it.
You can check your serial number with the Singer sewing machine database to determine the machine class (model number):
http://ismacs.net/singer_sewing_machine_company/serial-numbers/singer-b-series-serial-numbers.html
Then you can download free manuals here:
http://ismacs.net/singer_sewing_machine_company/manuals/singer-sewing-machine-manuals.html
And here: http://www.manualslib.com/brand/singer/sewing-machine.html
Yeah that's one of the problems. Singer doesn't have any records of the serial numbers for this one. All I can find is it was make in 1904. Guessing it's one of the few that had its records burnt up in their fire. ;(
According to the ISMACS Singer Sewing Machine database (the first link I provided for you in comment #2 above):
B- 460201 511000 27 50800 July 28 1904
Your machine is Model #27 and 50,800 were made.
Not sure how you found that but THANK YOU!!! I still couldn't find it. LOL!
It's the 3rd result when you Google 'singer sewing machine serial numbers'. It's the 19th result when you Google 'singer sewing machine'.
