This dish was given to me by my great aunt. My apologies for it being sideways in the picture. I tried to rotate it 50 ways and it wouldn't work :( I am trying to find out what it is to be used for and what it's called. Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you!

you have an EAPG butter dish; unfortunately it is a marriage of two different patterns, tho' fortunately for you the marriage seems to work. The lid is ruby stained, and is the 'Big Button' pattern by Crystal Glass Co. c1891 (this pattern is sometimes noted as Pioneer #9 because Pioneer Glass Co. was the decorating company adding the ruby stain). The bottom is the 'Cobb' pattern by Richards & Hartley c1885.
