This doll came from my step mothers estate. she was born in 1937 in Denmark and this was her doll as a child. I think there is a very hard to see(pic4) AM on the back of the neck but no other markings except the ones on the bottom of her shoes. Clothing seems to be original and under garments are an eyelet type martial but the top and bottom are sewn together so I have not tried to remove as to not take away from the original. Arms, legs and head are attached by metal hooks and strings. Arms and legs do not bend. Seems to possibly be composite but I am not sure. Trying to determine if she is worth keeping. Any help appreciated. THANKS

I can't see where you see AM ? She is a composition doll all original but I know of one maker that used AM but I need to see how the AM looks :-( shoes were usually bought from another company as most doll makers did not make shoes .

I redid the pic of the neck. It is very hard to see, I have to lean it to one side to see it. It is not big letters or cursive , just a plain A M, someone told me that maybe it was Armand Marseilles. This doll was most likely purchased in Denmark

Armand Marseille is German company I was thinking also . Many German companies made dolls dressed in ethnic clothes like yours however when your doll was made their was a law to stamp country of origin if exported from any country . I have to wonder where the indented area is may have been place to stamp what country she was made in . When molds were used over and over again the stamps and markings became harder to see until a new replaced mold was made . With out knowing if she was made in Germany she was made in a country that did not export . Armand Marseille made bisque doll heads so the AM you see is a mystery , She has characteristics of their doll " Dream Baby however .

In looking really closely, I do believe that this doll has composite body, arms and legs. the head is a different material which seems to be bisque, I think lol. So in reading, since I read that doll mfgs bought there heads from AM, I think this is the case. and I also think you may be correct that the stamp was worn out, because I can see another vague marking under the very faint AM, which may be the country, but not sure. I do appreciate your help!!!
