I purchased this clock at auction in Pennsylvania. The auction was entitled "Hermes, Mid Century Modern". The clock did not appear to match the style of the other items at auction, however. Per the auction description, "Hand Wrought Mantle Clock with Brass works and original Pendulum measures 9"x8."
I would love to know the origins of this clock. It has what appear to be rams horns at the 12,3,6 and 9 positions and primitive markings throughout. The are no numbers for the hours. The coating on the hands and hour positions glow in low light, but looks slightly copper colored in daylight. I think the back cover is made of steel as some of the paint has been scratched off. There is only one spot to wind the clock so I assume it does not chime. I do not have the correct size key to wind the clock.
The clock needs to be cleaned all over but I am not sure how to go about it. I was thinking of using q-tips and oil. I can see some slight red color when I use a flashlight and magnifying glass, not sure if it was painted at one time or if the red is something naturally occurring from the metal.
