I have several of these in various lengths from 15" to 7". One side has the metal cutting blade the other is curved all wood and has a peg on each side of the curves. I thought these hand tools were for skinning and shaping logs the blade to skin and shape the log and the other side as a gauge? Anyone know for sure what I have here"
Draw knives and/or, spoke shaves.
I agree they are draw knives. Not sure about the spoke part most of the gauges see to large for spokes? I was thinking logs shapin for barn or cabin timbers? Any idea of the age?
draw knive for smothing inside of wooden keg wine kask or beer barrel
A 7" draw knife would most likely be called a spoke shave.
