very cool !
I would luv to know more about this stone like doll an its history.
Amazing find. Can we see some more pics of the back, top, etc. He looks European/Caucasian maybe. The feet are interesting. How deep was he buried?
Maybe you could look close by the site for the arms?
can you show where arm is off to see material better ? It looks like some type of symbol or icon rather than a doll to me .
Could have been part of an old bird bath -- the feet where on a solid base of some kind - it appears.
What a cool find and now that ic trunkmans post I think maybe he's onto something (and much better then finding a Voodoo doll but at least it looks nothing like you ;)
Peace -n- Love
You can "follow" me anytime! You can even bring the doll. Reminds me of some Aztec clay heads my parents brought from Mexico in the '50's.
Welcome to CyberAsylum, aka CW. I'm the shy one.
My blue pit found it dug it up. I looked around the area for arms couldnt find them . It looks like stone to me iv never seen any clay like that but really not sure. I'll put up more pics.
it definitely looks like formed and fired clay. it looks much older than European settlement by the oxidation. i'm looking at some prehispanic figures from Mexico right now and their faces look somewhat similar. more pics would be very useful and dimensions as well.
I wish I knew what happened to those heads my parents brought from Mexico. The features were a little better, but sure looks like the same material & basic style. Thought I saw once a map of Mexican/Central Amer. tribe that settles as far as FL but now can't locate it.
this site has some good info on prehistoric Georgia / Florida. http://lostworlds.org/evidence-foreign-invasion-georgia-1100-ad/
Ho2, I want to thank you for your contribution. Being from N. AL & wondering thru S. AL collecting pottery shards & arrow heads, your source opened a new facet to my knowledge. Never trust those carpetbagger Mississippian Indians! LOL! That was a lot of good information & makes me wonder about my past findings. A bientot.
