I was always afraid of knocking this thing over while growing up. Even now that all the screws have been tightened it doesn't stand up straight. Has little people's heads, with big wigs, like at olde English courts. And it's heavy. Stubbed my toe on it more than once growing up.
The two white glass vases on the bottom belonged to her French grand parents, I think. The flower images are very faded now. I think she just kept them for sentimental value because they aren't very pretty any more.
Piece in middle shelf was a Dresden figurine of man and woman. I think it might have played music. Faces were dirty and there was a hole in the dress. Oh, and his hand, holding a book, kept falling off. It was placed in her lap so it wouldn't get lost.
I like them because they remind me of the work of giacometi who used bronze or brass to make beautiful pieces. Should look online to see what I am talking about :
