The M1 Carbine was not originally issued with a bayonet. In 1944 they began making them with built in bayonet lugs and others were retro fitted. Yes that is WWII era carbine shown in the photos, I checked the serial number.
But the bayonet is the Kiffe version made in Japan in the early 1960s for the civilian marksmen program as the US Government was selling off the surplus carbines of which there were many.
Still it seems a well made piece, very close to mil spec.
