I found this piece in a thrift store in Los Angeles about 15 years ago, it was badly damaged and if you can believe it painted a ghastly dark brown. I saw it's potential and bought it and took it home. I noticed the lettering on the back and it looked to be from the Warner Bro lot at one point in time I figured it was probably a prop in several films or television show? The craftsmanship on it is superior, the tongue and groove work is pure artistry. I am not sure of the wood , I am horrible at identifying wood as much as I love it. It looks to be cedar or redwood? The piece stands 40 inches high and is 26 across the top with it being 33 inches wide from back to front with the leaf opened, the top can be removed from the trestle base by removing 2 wooden pegs that sit under the base, the desk slips into groves in the trestle base. It is brilliant and simple in it's design and the bottom feet on the trestle are actually amusing they look like a clown's shoe in a circus, very funny but incredibly practical. There is a marking on the rough back board of a what looks to be a fish face in a circle. I wanted to include it but was limited with the number of photos. The piece has such character and I would appreciate any thoughts or opinions on it's provenance.
What a cute piece of furniture!
