There was a time that I would haunt the auctions in this tri state area.
If you saw me at an auction, you knew I was there for more than just one item, and I would spend the entire time, even 8 hours if need be to acquire that item for my collection.
Such was the case of the lamp shown. It is displayed in my house as you see it. I am the second owner of the lamp , the estate was huge, having all items handled down from generation till, the property had to be sold with contents due to the family either being deceased, or moves too far from the area to manage the property full of treasures.
The book ends were purchased private from one of my friends that I truly admire. Not only for her kind gentle nature , but, for her taste in the finest things.
Even those dear little prints in the photos have hand painted accents on the prints, painted by her hand..she was a artist , not famous , but, talented to the point that if she had wanted to be famous, I sure she would have been.
These items are not for sale , they give me peace in my heart. When times are hectic, I sit in the chair beside that table, and enjoy the serenity of the scene.
In these trying times such a haven is a blessing. Be careful and antique stores though. I found a wife at one. Priceless bet very expensive;)
