I found this beautiful large impressionist painting at Goodwill this morning. I love the misty quality and the sunset or sunrise. The reflection of sunlight in the water really pops and becomes the focal point of the whole picture. The location appears to be the Grand Canal in Venice Italy with the church of Santa Maria Della Salute in the background. The frame is beautiful. It's ornate and quite heavy and in great condition. Judging by the slightly yellowed canvas and the stretchers which are marked Arcobilt with splines and the fact that it's stapled it probably dates to the 50's or 60's. The frame has a label from Los Angeles Frame Inc. which I found out was dissolved in 1963. There is a signature but it's not very legible. So, not a museum piece but an attractive example of MCM impressionism that was very popular at the time. -Mike-

Thanks Karen and Sean :)......I'm fine Karen just had a birthday on Halloween (boo hoo ...lol). It's just been kind of quite around here. The stores have been packed with Halloween and now Christmas decorations which seem to take preference over anything else this time of year. All my favorite places seem to have dried up so not much to post lately. There was a shake up in management at the Salvation I get my best jewelry from. So my friend and I can't sort anymore and she doesn't have time to go in the back to price because she's also head cashier. In the mean time the other employees go through the donations and take all the good pieces after she does sort them and they strangely disappear. In other words they're stolen ! All her complaints fall on deaf ears. Oh well it was fun while it lasted.

Happy birthday! Glad all is OK.
Your shop sounds like it now has mismanagement to me. Oh well we all have our favorite places that change and are then less than before. Both the Salvos and Vinnies here have been reorganising their stores and prices have gone up (I guess that's OK but sometimes it's silly) and the chance of finding bargains, around here at least, is pretty low.
My favorite shop is a little independent church shop....it's so good. Nice stuff, clean, doesn't smell, they don't have bad radio stations on, and the people who work there aren't right wing conservatives with loud opinions! lol.

That's a great painting, Mike, love the way the orange is reflected in the water. :)

Thank you Katherine :) This is the one I took the frame off to put on my other painting by Rita Schuenemann. I like it but I don't think it's valuable maybe a mid-century decorator piece. So I didn't mind sacrificing the frame. I'll find another eventually.
