Some old lady around 90 or so was throwing this out in trash today while I was driving my friends son to school this morning. I live with my Father to take care of him in a senior community 55+ and the lady lives down the street at the end of the community.
I stopped and asked if she was throwing it out and she said yes, this old dirty thing has stains, so I took it. It has yellow stains probably from coffee, how do I take them out, also how old do you think this is ?
have not laid it out full yet.
Thank You
Billy Davis , you can find me on FB if you want to be friends..
Looks like it is crocheted cotton....lovely thing.
A long soak in cold water with Napisan or similar is my recommendation....others may have better ideas.
You could make a paste with baking soda and gently put it on the stains with a toothbrush and let it sit. Wait, I think you should take a look on you tube and just type in the question. A video will come up and show you how to do this. You could also type in google search "DIY clean stains from crocheted cotton blanket". (DIY = Do It Yourself) You will be surprised at the DIY info you can get! If the stains come out let us know, ok?
racer4 napisan I will try, also the baking soda paste shareurpassion mentioned.
Thanks to both of you
racer4four and shareurpassion, see the pick in bathtub, all yellow, what do think it's from ?
Water - Looks like Nicotine and old Age....LOL...but they clean up NICE!!
antiquerose, how old do you think ? I soaked it with oxy clean, I didn't smell any nicotine though.
Some purposely make items like this look old by soaking them in water with tea bags....why??? I have no clue. But maybe that's what someone did with this piece.
Tea bags, hmm..
