Please can you help with identifying this badge. All I know is that it has been in our family for over 40 years (apparently it used to belong to a great uncle).
It is enamel and stamped "sterling" on the reverse.
Approx Dimensions :-
Length of pin - 32mm
Length of flag - 13mm
Height of flag - 10mm
Weight - 2 grams
Any help would be gratefully received.
The flag is the Royal Ensign, the flag of the British Royal Navy
Thank you very I knew he was in the Navy but that's all. I can now research this badge.
Militarist, among others here, may drop a comment on your thread if they can help. Good luck!
These are usually called 'Sweetheart' pins or brooches and were popular during wartime and often worn by wives and girlfriends of serving personnel.
