    I am not sure how you tell if this item is metal or cast iron,it appears to have been attached to something any ideas to what? there is a piece of wood in the middle of this.
    What would you do with it?
    any ideas would be helpful

      It looks to me like cast iron. Are there more tabs along the top edge? If not, perhaps it was used as a framed-on-three-sides top of a garden gate.

      Called fer forge in France, who would not want to own these.
