I'm new to this! Help!!

I found this brooch for my wife in an antique shop - the owner didn't know anything about it. After a lot of internet research I thought that it might be an early Victorian brooch (1850's, due to type of hinge, clasp and length of pin) in a Rococo Revival style. I also thought it might be made of Ormolu because of the coloring after mild cleaning. It's about an 1 1/2 " tall and wide. When I looked for pieces which I thought might be of similar style I only came up with brooches that either had a gemstone in the center or a picture/hair of a morning brooch. I could not find anything else with the general design features (such as scrolls). I don't think it's Art Nouveau, even though the scrolls, etc. seem a bit similar to me. I am very new to this and would love to surprise my wife with an identification!
