I am still looking for info on this:

The title is from the back of the piece and it also said framed in 1914. Its dimensions are approximately 15.25 x 12.25 (image) and it was found in a turn of the century Louis Vuitton trunk.

It seems very satirical and I do not think the General's name is real since I could not get any results searching. Any information would be appreciated.

      Railroad wheels?

Love it! Agree it appears to be satirical.

It looks like a photo studio creation. The men look like an actual photograph.

Yes. I noticed the railroad wheels on a dirt road, right? How odd. It is so completely steam punk 100 years before the concept was even thought up. Who did this? Did Louis Vuitton or the designers have anything to do with this?

Actually, it looks like it is on rails covered with snow. That white stuff is called snow?

I'm not so sure about the snow covered rail idea. I don't think there would be a steering wheel if it were still intended to still be some sort of rail car - but what the heck is that thing?!?!

Good question Chris. The steering wheel throws me off too unless for steering when off the tracks. That thing would plow in like a knife in soft ground. I think the vehicle & possibly the whole thing is a fantasy. I briefly searched motorized rail carts etc., & found nothing close. Of course the internet is almost all U.S. related.

Maybe the body of the vehicle is some sort of machine part, blown up to vehicle size? Whatever it is, I think we are missing part of the joke.

Flailing about for some sort of explanation, I am thinking possibly it's the dual recoil buffer for a large WWI artillery piece.
