My intuition told me to go to the thrift shop today. This was hanging on a nail amidst a ton of costume jewelry. Total length is 17 inches. I have to take it to my pawn shop owner friend and get it weighed. I have to order a jewelry scale, too.
Has the Dutch sword stamp with "925" inside and numerous other silver stamps in the clasp area. Then there's a funny little stamp on the very small bit of the clasp where you normally see "925". Another stamp is "A.D."with a star, inside a rectangle. My various searches have turned up zero so far.
Thanks for looking.
Please take me to your thrift shop. lol nice find.
Caperkid, you'll have to buy a plane ticket to the Netherlands, first....haha!
There was a German maker with those initials, worked through at least 1980s, can't remember the name now.
davyd - that could be possible, if he worked in the Netherlands. There are no import marks on this piece, just the Dutch sword hallmark.
I imagine that this necklace came from a jeweler/silversmith, as the usual sterling jewelry in the local shops simply has "925" and the sword mark on it (if made in the country) without any other hallmarks.
