I found this old roll of barbed wire ? Up in the loft area of a old barn we are getting ready to take down. The barn dates to around 1890 or so. This roll has never been opened or moved (that was very obvious when we found it). I believe it had been setting in the same location for 100+ years or more.

I believe there is over 100 feet in length (or more) of the wire. I was also wondering about the reel it is on, it looked pretty interesting also, any info would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Jim

I never used one but I believe that "barb wire" is from an old 'check row' corn planter, horse drawn, too lay out plants on an even grid, so that cultivation was square both east to west and north to south. Way back before herbicides were used.
