I think this was taken near the Legion of Honor. It's a large photogravure [whatever that is] of the bridge around it's inauguration [1933]. The whole sheet is 16 inches by 12 inches.

I don't know what a photogravure is either but for a bit there you sounded very knowledgeable. That bridge sure has aged well - it's a great design.

I live in Las Vegas now but grew up in San Jose, CA, your neighbor to the south. I hate driving across big bridges like this (phobia???), but enjoy viewing them from a distance. The Golden Gate Bridge is beautiful -- from a distance!!! [;>)
