I bought this litho off of a collector a few years ago. it's about 5" tall x 9" wide. I wonder what kind of board game used these cool graphics? This is from the late 1800s.

Oh maybe I am right on search I see this about his character . Interesting . These were very famous puppets and very collectible , per wiki The Punch and Judy show has roots in the 16th-century Italian commedia dell'arte

I learned a bit today always knew about Punch and his face but Vet locating it to be a commedia dell'arte I would never have associated Punch with it . Great Vet and who can forget Punches face and to know how he came about was interesting to me as well :-)

Even the name 'Punch' derives from the stock commedia character 'Pulcinella' through the original English form 'Puchinello'. The importance of the Commedia dell'Arte to the European theatrical tradition is fundamental.

very cool! i had no idea. mesopotamia may be the cradle of civilization, but italy sure is the cradle of modern, western culture!
