All I know about this picture I have is that it was my great great grandfathers. Supposedly he brought it back from France during WWI. I cant seem to find anything but replicas of it. Its in original frame and fading. I tried to take it out of frame, but it is too old and will not come out. The picture above is one I found online. My original is very hard to see when photographed. Any one with any knowledge of this print would truly make my day.
never caught anything like that fishing...looks like a keeper ...lol nice picture...
Stunning . Is yours a litho on paper or canvas ? It seems to come up as a French Painting and shows Original is in a museum . To bad we can't see a signature . I love it
can you get a closeup of the signature in the lower left corner? this print is about the dangers of deep sea diving. the mermaid represents the danger of the bends and mermaid myths have been adopted by all peoples who do deep-sea diving - including those who free dive w/out oxygen tanks. the song of the siren is the sound heard when decompression sickness [the bends] begins and is the last-stage warning for people to ascend at a much slower pace. when someone returned from a dive expedition w/ the bends, they were said to have followed the siren song and visited the mermaids and they never return [to consciousness].
Very cool! Nice info ho2!
bit sexy for that old.
I think the shark has got other plans for the diver!! ...:-))
thanks hot2 and welcome Tammy to CW
With a Shark in the background -- I guess "Love Hurts"
