Can't think of the two seperatly! Found this amazing Student desk lamp made by Aladdin Co. in 1983. I have a few more lamps from Aladdin co but this one is unique so went ahead and bought it despite the poor condition. As far as I know this one is reproduction of much desirable model no4.that were manufactured in 1920's.. When Aladdin co. Celebrated there 70th anniversary they made reproductions of there most desirable Lamps. Only 7500 of these were made in 1983.(took me some time to find out )
Any ideas as to how I can clean or restore this lamp without ruining it?
Thank you for 'Love it' blunderbuss2! This was my first but surely not the last Show n Tell post. Looking forward to get some expert advise from all you amazing collectors.
Welcome to CW:)
Thank you Trey! I am glad I found this 'amazing world of collectors ' like you.
Hello Bluebonnet,
Nice lamp you found; it deserves a polish to bring it back to original condition. Any good brass polish will work, then a coating of clear lacquer to keep it from oxidizing.
The original model# 110 was made in 1911-12, with a model 4 burner; your lamp is to commemorate the 75th anniversary. ( 1908-83).
If you don't have it, there's an excellent book on Aladdins by Bill Courter, titled: Aladdin the Magic Name in Lamps.
Good luck.
Thank you Luckyme for the pointer on restoring the beauty of this lamp and also for information on the Book. I will definetly look up for one.
