I am wondering if anyone has any information on what this is.
I have 2 large ( approx. 2") the say
United States Army Schools
There are 2 holes like they were buttons or medals.
On the back of each is
G23
Any information would be helpful - I bought them at an estate
In the Atlanta area
These are either never-completed or disassembled examples of the badge awarded to foreign military officers who graduate from U.S. Army schools. The two holes are to attach the distinctive unit insignia of the school. The three dimples on the back are where pinback attachments go.
I was going to share pictures of the front and back of one I have on my desk from the U.S. Army Signal School, but there isn't an upload option.
Here is a link to a discussion of these badges, with examples, from the Gentleman's Military Interest Club.
