    Starrett micrometer #436 in original box. In box is a card from Brown & Sharpe Tools in Providence, R.I. Just trying to figure out an approximate date. Box is wood and felt lined.

      0-1" mics. I just posted a B&S mic less than a week ago & you might want to take a look at it. Yours look much older & I'm interested. I not going to do your research for you, but would luv to know what you find. The name Starrett is familiar to me.

      I can tell you your #436 black enamel micrometer, is in my 1938 starrett catalog, so it is at least that old. Your #911 pocket case is also listed, and were made for the the 0-1" mics. only. The brown and sharpe advertisement does not belong with this set, as they were starrett's big competitor of precision measuring tools at that time.

      The machinist probably put the B&S paper in there just to keep the Starrett on its toes!
