I pulled these from a skip !!
I think they're very old delft tiles , they're roughly 5"square and have both seen better days ,
Obviously somebody thought they were worth keeping and glued them together at some stage .
One has I think the image of Jesus with a maiden on her knees (wish I had that power) !!! Lol
The other a lone figure that looks like they're listning
To God above..
Has anyone any idea of age or any knowledge they'd like to share on these ??
Many thanks for looking :-)
Just found some on the web , they were made in Rotterdam in the 1780s !!!
The tile in pic 2 I think is called the woman of cannan (Mathew xv.22)
How cool !!
very beautiful!!
Thanks Sean ;-) for your love & cool comments ;-)
Amazing!! Truly incredible that they've survived for all these years.
From a church? Stations of the cross possibly?
Thank you jscott0363 & Bonniemae for your loves & cool comments,
I think someone may of had them fixed on a fireplace or washstand !! Poss from a church somewhere !
I'll frame them to keep them safe ;-)
