I guess I'm destined to be back in my glass collecting mode as that seems like the only pieces I can find lately. There were a few more paperweights at Salvation today, nothing spectacular just some "Made in China" odds and ends, but then there was this guy. He's large at 5 1/2" tall and 5" across the top. He's quite hefty too almost 5 lbs. ! My friend and I had a debate over what animal it was. I said an owl and she thought it was a Koala. I think the pointed beak makes it look more bird like. It's a beautiful teal blue and the clear at the top has hints of violet. A cluster of controlled bubbles fills the body. It isn't signed anywhere on the nicely polished bottom, but it did have some label residue on the front towards the bottom that I cleaned off. Designed by Miroslav Janku in his own unique style..... a tweak here... a pinch there... a few bubbles..viola' an owl . -Mike-

This fab owl is Czech Mike. Zelesny Brod (ZBS) and designed by Miloslav Janku.
      Great find!!

Thanks Karen :)....I figured as much. Just didn't want to jump the gun since it wasn't actually signed by Miroslav Janku. It did have a small label on the front near the bottom but all that was left was the glue. I ran across an older CW post of a penguin (these seem to be open to interpretation) that you and Rose helped with so I was almost sure about the ZBS attribution. There was a cranberry colored owl on Ebay as well but that's the only other one I've come across online. Guess he's rather a rare bird. Awesome !
