Disclaimer: I did not coat the hinges with that gaudy gold leaf paint, or perform any of the 'restoration' work on the trunk - smile.

I hope the hinges help those of you who are helping me identify the manufacturer and where I could get more information and sell the trunk.

    Thanks so much! Rick

      F.W Beckwith hinge patented July 14 1885
Not a Martin Maier patented hinge. But very nice trunk hardware all the same.
I have seen this hardware on M.M. Secor and a few other better manufacturers.
      Much luck with it.

Here is the (earlier) July 14, 1885 Martin Maier patent hinge.that we see
      so often on his trunks.

Here is another rare Martin Maier corner iron and latch patent. Incidentally I have yet to see on any of his trunks pictured on the internet. I have sure searched a bit.So if anyone finds a picture of it please post it and let me know,it wouuld be neat to see.
