I would like if someone could tell me something about this item. I bought it for my kids as a toy, and someone told me that it is an antique, so I'm not sure if i should let them play with it or not. I would love to know how much it's worth, and if anyone has any details on where it was made, and when it was made. I found a similar one on the web that says between 1960's and 70's. The horse has printed into it's side the letters "JR". Please help!

Hi!! I know you posted this a while ago- but I just found this and had to message you. I had this exact rocking horse growing up, I am wondering if this is my exact one. I was walking along the street in NYC today and came across the horse in a window at an antique shop. I am dying to know if this the horse I had as a child- or if these are all different ones from the same carousel. Mine looked just like this picture- and so did the one I saw today! I would love to know if you still own it or if you are the one that gave it to this antique shop in new york. Looking forward to hearing from you!!

Hello, Hi, I'm from Cali.... I have this rocking horse too. It's not in this condition. Needs some new paint and has some rust also maybe a new gold pole? I'd like to also know it's worth... I just might keep it..... Or perhaps sell it.

      Hi,
I still have this. I can tell you this:
Purchased around Christmas 1984 from a large store in Bklyn, NY for $99.
Antique, not really ... but very pretty.
Thinking this search can be closed cuz of the 3 people who contributed, not one was the original inquirer.

I actually found out that my parents still have ours saved. Funny, they are originally from Brooklyn so I wonder if they got it at the same store you are referring to. When I saw it at the NYC antique shop, it was priced at $900.00.. So it may be a good idea to hold onto it!

      Hi NYU46,
Nah, $900 is so nuts ... but there was something you said that makes me wonder if it's even the same rocking horse. You asked if it may have come from the same carousel. This rocking horse (JR = Joy Rider) is NOT from an actual carousel. It's a child's toy. Small enough for a 3/4 yr old and that's about it. It's pretty light weight also. Anyway, glad you still have yours. I have the one we bought my son 27 year ago, also.

Hi I also have the same JR rocking horse, which I purchased in 1986 from Bullock's in Los Angeles at the time. The horse isn't in mint condition and could some touch up. I purchased this for my daughter when she was a year old.
I would love to know the value of this it someone can enlighted me please.

My parents worked for the company that made these. They are called "Joy Rockers". They were made from about 1984-1986 the company closed in about 1986. They did not actually chi one from a carousel. My mom was actually the lead painter who did these. I still have one. The parent company (C&M Custom Molding) was in Overland Park, Kansas then transferred and had locations in Mt. Vernon, Illinois and St. Louis, Missouri before closing.

@kelsey0210 that is so cool i also have one of these.. how many colors did they come in?? Mine has the green saddle blanket the one in the pic is Blue.
So what state where these made when your parents worked for the Company..
thank you for the history lesson.

I have the same JR rocking horse but it has a beautiful wood rocking base instead of the metal. Has anyone ever seen one like that?
