Most interested collectors have seen them once. In the old Chinese culture they were used as nail guards and were a symbol of status. Because they showed that the women did not have to work. So they were used by very wealthy and great ladies, even the Chinese empresses of course. They bore it made of gold and precious gems, but also almost every concubine is wearing them! They find them to be very elegant because it shows how graceful the women’s hands are. When they move their hands, they move with extra care and grace because of the dainty nail guards.
So this is a quite simple example of such a nail guard. Made of Filigree gilt silver with Coral and Turquoise round stones. Changed in a long brooch. I hope you like it
