Is this lovely little doll a Miniature Victorian Doll ... she is full porcelain and her clothes are coming to pieces. Are there any doll experts out there who can give me more info, or point me in the right direction to do some research on her. She is only 8 cms tall (3.25")
I would so love to find out more information about this tiny doll. Please help! Thanks. Melody
As you can see - this little dolls cothes are so old they are falling to pieces, so I don't want to try and undress her to look for makers marks, in case I ruin her dress entirely, and maybe she won't have any marks anyway? Did ALL old dolls have marks? Thanks. Melody
Yes most dolls were marked at least country of origin . But it is not worth ruining her clothes to find out . She date early 1900's and these all bisque dolls came in many qualities some very fine detail with glass eyes to painted like yours . She appears German and possibly Japan she is lovely but bisque is not real high quality .Often called Dollhouse dolls and they were used in them . Precious and I would not worry about seeing her marking just enjoy her .
This is not your doll as so many of these were made you will see many faces and sizes from 1 inch to 6 inch but this is how they are usually marked and is comparable to your your doll
